BIC-5K – bidirectional 5 kW power supply for industrial and energy storage applications

With the BIC-5K from MEAN WELL , Simpex MEAN WELL its portfolio with a bidirectional AC/DC power supply with 5 kW output power, which was developed for demanding industrial, storage, and energy recovery applications. The system enables both operation as a DC power supply (AC→DC) and the recovery of DC energy into the AC grid (DC→AC).

The fully digitally controlled power design ensures an efficiency of up to 93% in both operating directions and precise voltage and current control. The switchover time between charging and regenerative braking mode is in the millisecond range, making the BIC-5K suitable for dynamic energy management systems.

Digital communication interfaces such as CANBus and MODBus-RTU (RS-485) are available for system integration. These enable comprehensive monitoring and control of operating parameters such as voltage, current, power, and operating mode, and facilitate integration into the overall system.

For safe continuous operation, the BIC-5K has extensive protection functions, including overvoltage and undervoltage protection, overcurrent and overload protection, short-circuit protection, and overtemperature protection. The power supply complies with relevant international safety and approval standards and is designed for industrial environments.
