LEM presents new DCES series - Precise energy detection for DC fast and megawatt charging
As an official distributor of LEM , we are delighted to present the new DCES series. The high-precision DC energy meters have been specially developed for modern fast charging and megawatt charging systems. The DCES600 and DCES1500 models enable charging infrastructure manufacturers to quickly bring kWh-based billing systems to market, from public DC fast chargers to megawatt charging hubs for e-trucks.

High measuring accuracy for reliable billing
The DCES series delivers Class B accuracy at currents up to 1500 A and voltages up to 1500 VDC - over the entire charging cycle, from high initial currents to low currents at the end of charging. The wide operating temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C allows use under the harshest environmental conditions.
Thanks to compliance with international metrology and calibration standardsMID 2014/32/EU, calibration law), the devices are ideal for legally compliant kWh billing - a decisive factor, especially when billing large quantities of energy for heavy goods vehicles.
Security & Communication
In addition to the measurement data, cybersecurity functions are also available via the RS485 interface:
- Digital signatures to authenticate the measured values
- Secure remote maintenance and firmware updates
- Open APIs for fast software integration
This reduces operating costs and facilitates integration into existing charging and energy management systems.
Flexible integration thanks to remote display
A remote display unit (RDU) is available as an option, which can be flexibly mounted on front panels, DIN rails or base plates. It requires neither a separate power supply nor additional communication lines and displays all billing-relevant values in compliance with the law.

Robustness for continuous use
- DCES600: insulation up to 1000 VDC, 2× M10 connections, 33×36 mm contact surface
- DCES1500: insulation up to 1500 VDC, 4× M12 connections, 45×100 mm contact surface
Both models have fiberglass-reinforced housings, high temperature resistance (up to 110 °C on the busbars) and are supplied with a protective cover and seals.
Typical applications
- DC fast charging stations (public & commercial)
- Megawatt charging systems for trucks, buses and future high-capacity EVs
- Fleet and depot charging with precise energy tracking
- OEM integration into charging platforms, battery storage systems or DC grids
Conclusion: With the DCES series, LEM provides a future-proof solution for precise, safe and legally compliant energy detection in DC charging applications. Samples are available now and the series devices are expected to be fully certified by the end of the year.
