One of the greatest dangers at electronics workstations is electrostatic discharge (ESD), which can cause considerable damage in production. It is therefore important to prevent objects or people from becoming charged at the ESD workstation and to ensure the safe dissipation of existing charges. ESD chairs from Bimos offer reliable protection here: all components, such as upholstery, steel parts, plastics, castors and glides, are conductive. Bimos ESD chairs provide a comprehensive and reliable solution thanks to their holistic dissipation.

ESD area
Similar to a lightning strike to a tree, a sudden exchange of charge carriers can have serious consequences for a semiconductor. Static charges and discharges pose a particularly high risk for microelectronic components. For this reason, special requirements apply to work chairs in many areas of the electrical industry: only with a suitable ESD chair can a workplace meet the ESD protection specifications. In order to meet the requirements for an ESD-compliant workplace, certain standards must be adhered to.
The requirements for equipping the ESD workstation
The European standard EN 61340, which defines ESD protection and supports users in selecting suitable protective measures, stipulates that the resistance of all parts of a seat that may come into contact with the body during normal use must be less than 10⁹ Ω to a contact point on the floor. However, as components in microelectronics are becoming smaller and more sensitive, stricter requirements are often necessary for ESD chairs in practice.

ESD chairs from Bimos: a reliable overall system
The ESD chairs from Bimos offer outstanding protective properties that make them indispensable equipment at any ESD workstation. With a discharge and surface resistance of 10⁶ Ω, they ensure that no electrostatic charge is generated on the chair. At the same time, any charge applied by the user is safely dissipated to the conductive floor. Thanks to optimum material selection and connection technology, the chairs consist of conductive comfort upholstery, conductive coated steel parts, volume-conductive plastics and conductive castors and glides. The cross-component discharge makes the ESD chairs from Bimos a comprehensive protection system that ensures ideal conditions at every ESD workstation.
