Description

Stannol solid wire is drawn to the exact diameter using special wire-drawing machines and therefore has no surface irregularities. This is particularly important when the solid wire is fed through an automatic wire feeder. Our solid wire is manufactured on the same machines we use for our well-known flux-cored wires and undergoes the same quality control.

Application

Use in small solder baths or refilling larger solder baths are two of the most common applications for solid solder wire. By feeding the solder wire slowly and continuously into the solder bath, the level remains as constant as possible without suddenly lowering the operating temperature. In addition, there are several applications in which the use of solid wire plus a separate flux is more advantageous than the use of flux-cored solder wire. For example, when joining metal parts—
where exceptional capillary penetration of the solder is required—a paste or liquid flux is applied separately to the joint before the parts are joined. During the soldering process, the solder melts and is drawn into the joint by the capillary forces of the flux.
