Description

SWAT is a specially developed mixture of non-flammable solvents that forms a microemulsion when mixed with water. It has been developed for the cleaning of printed circuit boards and is ideal for the safe removal of all types of paste, adhesive and flux residues, including no-clean. SWAT is supplied as a concentrate and contains a corrosion inhibitor that enables the safe cleaning of sensitive metals including copper and aluminum. SWAT is part of the Electrolube Safewash range of water-based, non-flammable, biodegradable solvent blends designed to clean to military cleanliness standard (ANSI-J-001B/IPC TM-650).

APPLICATION

Safewash Total is prepared as a solution of 20% Safewash Total and 80% deionized water and used at 40–60 °C for 5–10 minutes. The exact cleaning time depends on the type and age of the contamination, the flow rate, and the capacity of the cleaning system. After cleaning, the circuit board is rinsed with deionized water and then dried. The time required depends on the system design and the efficiency of the rinsing and drying unit. Air knives can be used optionally to reduce temperature or energy consumption.

When using the solution in an ultrasonic bath, it is recommended to prepare a bath solution consisting of 15% SWAT and 85% deionized water.
