RECOM RPxx-RAW DC/DC converter with 36-160VDC input for railroad applications, 3W, 6W and 10W

The cost-effective RPxx-RAW series is perfect for isolated auxiliary supplies in railroad applications and applications with a wider voltage range. The input range is between 36 and 160VDC, suitable for 72V, 96V or 110V nominal voltage with dips and surges up to 200V (1 second).

The RPxx-RAW series offers a choice of outputs including 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V, 24V and dual +/-5V, +/-12V and +/-15V. Power output varies by model, with the RP03-RAW series having an output power of 3W, the RP06-RAW series having 6W and the RP10-RAW series having 10W. All components have the same encapsulated through-pin DIP24 industry standard format with dimensions of 31.8mm x 20.3mm x 10.6mm.

Thanks to advanced circuit and thermal design techniques, the RPxx-RAW components offer highly efficient operation with low internal temperature rise. This means that they can also be operated under full load at high ambient temperatures without a drop in performance: The 3W part can be operated convection-cooled up to 90°C, the 6W part up to 85°C and the 10W variant up to 75°C. If required, operation is also possible at temperatures of up to 105°C with load derating and/or air flow. All products are fully protected against overtemperature, undervoltage at the input, short circuits and overload at the output. In addition, a control pin is provided to deactivate the outputs and set the components to a low power dissipation mode.

The RPxx-RAW series offers reinforced insulation that can withstand a 3kVAC test. It complies with the railroad standard EN50155 as well as IEC/EN/UL62368 and the corresponding Canadian standard for multimedia/IT applications. The EMC standard EN55032 class A is fulfilled without external components, while class B can also be achieved with the aid of three small external capacitors.

The series is ideal for use in harsh environments with higher DC input supplies. It is used in various areas, including IoT sensors, battery management systems and electric forklift trucks.
