RACPRO1-RD40 – Low-loss redundancy module for DIN rail mounting

With the RACPRO1-RD40 from RECOM , Simpex presents a new, cost-effective redundancy module for DIN rails. The module combines a pair of MOSFETs with an intelligent control system that functions as highly efficient gate diodes. This allowsAC/DC Converter to be usedAC/DC Converter n+1 redundant or parallel systems – ideal for critical applications where the power supply must be guaranteed even in the event of a mains or DC module failure.

In redundant operation, each module can be operated with up to 20 A load, powered by two DC sources with a rated current of 20 A each. In parallel operation, the RACPRO1-RD40 delivers up to 40 A output current (60 A/5 s for short periods) – and that solely through convection cooling at ambient temperatures of -40 to +70 °C. For higher power ratings, multiple modules can be easily connected in parallel.

The maximum voltage drop of only 140 mV enables efficiencies of up to 99.5% with typical losses of only 5 W. The module is designed for 12 V, 24 V, and 48 VDC and covers a wide input voltage range from 9 to 56 VDC. Feedbacks up to 63 VDC (briefly up to 70 VDC) are safely tolerated – a plus in operational reliability in complex supply systems.

For maximum reliability, the component is certified according to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 62368-1 and complies with EMC standards EN 61000-6-4 Class B (emission) and EN 61000-6-2 (immunity). With an idle power consumption of less than 200 mW, an exceptionally high MTBF of over 268,000 hours at 40 °C, and a robust design, the RACPRO1-RD40 is ideal for demanding industrial environments.

With a width of only 43 mm and practical 25° push-in connections, the module enables tool-free, particularly fast installation.
