For the MEAN WELL HEP-2300 series which was developed for outdoor environments with high power requirements there are various application examples

Harsh environmental conditions in power supply applications are generally understood to mean application environments with high temperatures, high humidity, a lot of dust and strong vibrations. In special areas such as rust protection and waste water treatment, a high sulphur or chemical content must be taken into account. The usual protective measures against moisture can only provide limited protection. In extremely harsh environments and in areas where high reliability is required, a special power supply for harsh outdoor environments is the best solution.

The HEP series is a power supply specially developed for harsh environments. With IP67 waterproof and dustproof protection, 10G vibration resistance, fanless design and an extruded aluminum housing for conduction cooling, the power supply series is suitable for use with a wide range of outdoor industrial and telecommunication equipment. It also offers a selection of digital communication functions that can be integrated into human-machine interfaces for system control.

The HEP-2300 is therefore perfect for systems that are operated outdoors and require an output of more than 2000 watts.

The series comprises four different output voltages: 55V/115V/230V and 380V. It is suitable for environments with high dust exposure or for indoor and outdoor devices. The output voltage can be adjusted in three ways: via a built-in variable resistor, the programmable (PV/PC) function and via digital communication such as CAN bus, PM bus and Modbus, which facilitates system integration.

The HEP-2300 series not only provides various output voltages, but also offers three wiring methods, including a traditional terminal block, a waterproof wiring cable and a waterproof connector. The waterproof connector can be used especially for 4G telecommunication radios RRU (Remote Radio Unit) and 5G active antennas AAU (Active Antenna Unit) which are used in outdoor base stations. Various mounting solutions are also available, such as mounting plates, rear or side mounting.

In addition to outdoor base stations, MEAN WELL's HEP-2300 can be used in a variety of outdoor applications such as cathodic corrosion protection devices, wastewater treatment plants, mobile device chargers, communication devices and outdoor displays.
