ESD training - Would you like to expand your employees' specialist knowledge? Then you've come to the right place!

Quality assurance and quality improvements in the company can only be achieved if your employees are sufficiently qualified. For us, one thing is clear: if you stop improving, you have stopped being good.

Become an ESD specialist with us!

The training courses are conducted by our colleagues from Keinath. With KEINATH Training Services (KTS), we provide customer-adapted or customer-specific ESD seminars, specialist training courses and further training measures, also at our customers' premises.

We are already pleased to have carried out ESD training with numerous people and are always delighted with the positive feedback from participants and our customers.

Range of ESD training services

ESD workplace planner

Seminar objectives: The ESD workplace planner seminar provides employees who have to plan, construct or set up electrostatically protected areas or production lines (EPA) with the necessary expertise. Starting with the basics of electrostatic charge generation, the various discharge models and the protective measures to be derived from them (based on IEC DIN EN 61340-5-1) and their correct use are discussed. An insight into ESD measurement and testing technology is also provided. Participants will learn about dissipative materials and their qualification.

Target group: Production planners, process engineers, process developers, purchasers, manufacturers and suppliers of ESD components.

Prerequisites for participation: experience in workplace design, knowledge of electrotechnical contexts. Previous participation in the basic seminar ESD 1 is advantageous.

Number of participants: Maximum 15 people

Seminar content of the ESD training:

  • Welcome and introduction
  • Physics of electrostatics
Formation of charge, discharge processes (ESD)
  • ESD protection zone in accordance with IEC DIN EN 61340-5-1 (EPA)
    Demarcation and marking
    Protective measures Personal equipment
Wrist straps, ESD footwear, work clothing, seating
Inspection and documentation Access control systems
    Protective measures Room equipment
    Conductive floor coverings
Workstations, storage cabinets, shelves, parts racks,
Means of transport, parts containers, magazines,
    Machines and production lines, ionization
  • ESD measurement technology
Leakage resistance, system resistance, walk-through test, documentation
  • Material science
  • Performance review and evaluation meeting
Open discussion and exchange of experiences

Exam: Final exam by means of a multiple-choice test followed by an evaluation interview

Typical duration: 1 day

ESD personnel training in accordance with DIN EN 61340-5-1

Seminar objectives: The ESD personnel training serves to instruct all persons who handle electrostatic sensitive devices (ESDS). It contains the training elements prescribed in IEC DIN EN 61340-5-1 and provides rules of conduct in an ESD-protected environment (EPA). This training promotes understanding of the necessary ESD protection measures.

Target group: All employees working in the CEPOL, including those who manage and supervise it.

Number of participants: Maximum 15 people

Seminar content of the ESD training: Adaptation of the seminar to individual customer requirements

The seminar content is agreed with the customer as a selection from the KEINATH standard range of topics or supplemented by company-specific parts. The preparation and training process is as follows:

  • Preliminary meeting to plan the training course
    Discussion of the schedule
    Determination of participant groups
Definition of the type and scope of content, premises and equipment
    Appointment arrangements
  • Compilation of the training documents
Preparation of the course folders, taking into account the customer documents available and the special features agreed in the preliminary discussion
  • Implementation of the training
  • Performance review and evaluation meeting

Exam: Final exam by means of a multiple-choice test followed by an evaluation interview

Typical duration: 4-6 hours

ESD personnel refresher training in accordance with DIN EN 61340-5-1

Seminar objectives: The annual personnel refresher training prescribed in the IEC DIN EN 61340-5-1 standard serves to refresh the rules of conduct in an EPA and to maintain the ESD awareness of persons who have access to an EPA. Staff knowledge of ESD and the associated risks to components is reinforced. Repeat staff training is also suitable for clarifying existing questions, ambiguities and misunderstandings and increasing motivation. At the customer's request, company-specific features can also be integrated into the training.

Typical duration: 2 hours

ESD Coordinator

The ESD coordinator is responsible for monitoring and controlling electrostatic hazards and coordinating the ESD protection concept. This includes the regular inspection of work areas, equipment and materials, as well as ESD audits to identify potential ESD sources. Based on these assessments, the coordinator develops strategies and guidelines to minimize the risk of electrostatic discharges along the entire process chain.

Another important aspect of the work of an ESD coordinator is the training of employees. This includes conducting ESD training and awareness programs to raise awareness of the potential risks and the correct behaviors when handling sensitive components.

Seminar content of the ESD training:

  • ESD in QM systems

Duration: 6 days

Goal: Acquisition of the ESD Coordinator qualification certificate

ESD Representative

The ESD officer has the task of ensuring that ESD protection measures are implemented appropriately in the various areas of the company. This includes supporting the selection of ESD materials and equipment and monitoring the implementation of protective measures. Through their work, the ESD officer helps to ensure that the company can effectively counter ESD risks and that the necessary ESD prevention measures are implemented.

Seminar content of the ESD training:

  • ESD basics
  • ESD responsibility in EPA
  • ESD measurement technology

Duration: 5 days

Goal: Acquisition of the ESD representative qualification certificate

ESD helper

The ESD assistant supports the implementation of suitable protective measures to minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge. The ESD assistant is also responsible for regularly checking compliance with ESD guidelines and procedures. He or she supports those responsible for ESD and carries out regular ESD checks and identifies potential areas for improvement to ensure an effective ESD protection concept.

Seminar content of the ESD training:

  • ESD basics
  • ESD measurement technology

Duration: 3 days

Goal: Acquisition of the ESD Helper qualification certificate
