Recom REM60-W - 60W DC/DC converter with medical certification

A compact SMT DC/DC converter with an industry standard pinout is now available that delivers an output power of 60W and has high-quality medical certifications.

Recom presents the new cost-effective REM60-W series, which offers two input ranges: 9-36VDC and 18-75VDC. Various regulated single and dual output options are available, including: 5V, 5.1V, 12V, 15V, 24V +/-12V and +/-15V. With a package size of just 2.3″ x 1.5″ x 0.5″ (57.9 x 36.8 x 12.7mm), this series achieves an industry-leading power density of 60W. The efficiency is over 90%, allowing operation at ambient temperatures of up to 105°C. Depending on the airflow, a slight power reduction may be required.

The REM60-W series is characterized by a medical quality with a reinforced 5kVAC/1min insulation and a working voltage of 250VAC. The air/creepage distance from input to output is over 8mm and the maximum patient leakage current is 4.5µA. This makes it ideal for medical B, BF and CF applications.

The series has the following medical safety certifications to cover worldwide markets: IEC/EN 60601-1 3rd Edition, ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 and CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60601-1:14. It also complies with the EMI immunity requirements of EN 60601-1-2 for medical devices. Further certifications include IEC/UL/EN 62368-1 for the IT/multimedia market. The EMI limits for conducted noise (EN 55032 Class A and B) can be met with simple external filters. The modules are specified for operation at an altitude of 5000 m and are designed for a pollution degree 2 (PD2) environment. The MTBF is over 1 million hours according to MIL-HDBK-217F Ground Benign conditions, 25°C.

The REM60-W offers functions such as remote ON/OFF, remote sense and output voltage trimming. It is fully protected against output overloads, short circuits, input undervoltage and overtemperature. The no-load and standby power consumption is low, while the efficiency at low load is high for energy-sensitive applications.
