XLC-MA LED control gear with MATTER control - For simple integration into the SMART Home

XLC 60 MA

MEAN WELL is expanding its XLC plastic-cased series, which already supports DALI and KNX dimming, with new models featuring Matter wireless technology: the XLC-25/40/60MA series . This new product range combines DALI, KNX, and Matter in a single driver, offering maximum flexibility and future-proofing – for use in both smart residential and commercial LED lighting solutions.

The new models with outputs of 25W, 40W and 60W fully comply with the current Matter standard 1.3 and are officially certified by the CSA Alliance. They enable smooth wireless dimming control in Matter-compatible systems and therefore significantly improve the user experience in modern, networked lighting applications.

The Matter standard is an open, manufacturer-independent communication standard for smart home devices. The aim of Matter is to improve interoperability, reliability and security in the smart home world - regardless of the manufacturer or the platform used (e.g. Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Home or Samsung SmartThings).

The most important features of Matter:

  • Cross-platform: Devices with Matter support work reliably with various smart home systems - without proprietary stand-alone solutions.
  • Local communication: Matter relies on local networks (e.g. WLAN, Thread) and enables control even without a cloud connection.
  • Easier setup: Matter devices are set up in a standardized, fast and user-friendly way.
  • Maximum security: Matter uses modern encryption techniques and security protocols.

Who is behind it?
Matter was developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) (formerly the Zigbee Alliance). Leading companies such as Apple, Google, Amazon, Samsung and many other technology manufacturers are actively involved in its development.

Why is Matter relevant for MEAN WELL LED drivers?
By integrating the Matter standard into LED drivers – as in the new XLC-25/40/60MA series from MEAN WELL – it will be possible to seamlessly integrate these drivers into a wide variety of smart home systems . This means wireless control (e.g., dimming) via a central app or voice assistant, regardless of the manufacturer.
