Round plug connector Hummel M16 HC instead of M23

The trend towards miniaturization in automation continues unabated and the installation space on applications is becoming ever smaller. As a result, connection components, including connectors, are becoming smaller and smaller everywhere. A good option for this is the M16 HC circular connector, which is offered as an alternative to the M23. It offers a very compact design, which is a good solution in most cases. Thanks to its slim design, it fits easily into the narrow designs of automation applications and is therefore ideal for use in applications where space is limited. It has a very high level of reliability and robustness, making it an excellent choice.
The challenge for the Hummel M16 High Current
The connection technology has evolved in response to this challenge: The smaller, more compact M16 connector is able to deliver the same performance as the larger M23 model. This performance is guaranteed by UL approval, which is available for the M16 connector. With its compact design, the M16 connector is an ideal solution when the installation space limits continue to shrink and high performance is required at the same time.
The solution for the Hummel M16 High Current
The contacts are crucial: In order to realize a solution, the smaller M16 contacts must have a significantly higher conductivity than the larger M23 contacts. For this reason, the focus was on the contact material. After a newly developed alloy was used to realize the Hummel M16 High Current connector, UL approval was also achieved. Extensive tests on conductivity and heat development have shown that the M16 HC contacts meet the high requirements.

Advantages
The M16 HC connector offers a power transmission similar to that of its counterpart from the M23 series. High performance with low space requirements, cost-efficient assembly directly on the PCB and UL approval.
| M16 HC | Signal | Power |
|---|---|---|
| Number of contacts | 4 | 4 |
| Contact diameter [mm] | 0,8 | 1,6 |
| Connection cross-section [mm²] | 0,08 - 0,34 | 2,5 |
| Rated current [A] | 5 | 25 |
| Rated voltage up to [V] | 48 | 48 |
