Description

Crystal solder wires enable fast soldering on copper and brass as well as on pre-tinned surfaces. The activity of the halogen-activated types on nickel is also good, depending on the oxidation of the nickel layer. The high thermal stability of the crystal fluxes is advantageous when soldering with refractory alloys. The resin and flux systems have been developed to achieve low residue products with reduced activity. This is achieved by partial decomposition and volatilization during the soldering process. Visible smoke may be generated during this process. In any case, the soldering fumes must be removed (extracted) from the operator's working area.

Technical data

  • Halogen-free (with crystal 400)
  • Fast soldering (several activity levels for all applications)
  • good spreading (on copper, brass and nickel)
  • Clear residues
  • Thermally stable (low splash tendency)
  • Mild odor

Areas of application

Soldering iron: The optimum soldering tip temperature and the heat requirement for a manual soldering process depend on the iron design and the soldering task. Unnecessarily high soldering tip temperatures with long soldering contact times should be avoided, as a high soldering tip temperature increases the tendency for the flux to splatter and leads to darker residues. The soldering iron tip should be well tinned. This is possible with Stannol crystal solder wire. Heavily soiled soldering tips should first be cleaned and pre-tinned with Stannol Tippy. Then wipe off excess solder with a clean, damp sponge before re-tinning the soldering iron tip with crystal solder wire.
